GrepCode Eclipse Plugin

The GrepCode (GC) plugin for Eclipse allows Eclipse users to access the search facilities provided by GrepCode without leaving the IDE. This tutorial describes how to install and use the plugin. The screeshots were taken using Eclipse 3.5 (Galileo). Similar steps can be followed with Eclipse 3.4.x versions (Ganymede).

System Requirements

The GC plugin is compatible with Eclipse versions 3.3 and above

Update Site Location

The GrepCode plugin update site is located at http://repository.grepcode.com/java/ext-eclipse/

Installation

The GC plugin may be installed, as any other Eclipse plugin, by applying the following steps:
  1. Install new software.

  2. Click on the "Add..." button and point your Eclipse IDE to the GrepCode plugin update site: http://repository.grepcode.com/java/ext-eclipse/

  3. Click on the "Next" button in the "Install Details" page.

  4. Accept the license and click on the "Finish" button in the license page.

Usage

Once the GC plugin has been installed, you can use it to browse the source code of open source libraries, that you use in your project development. Here is an example to illustrate this:
